Veterinarian Dr. Sheree Block, founder of Country Court Animal Hospital, and her rescued dog, AnnieDr. Sheree Block:

Dr. Block graduated from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in 1977.  She has practiced in the Wrigleyville area of Chicago, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and then in Villa Park, IL, before opening Country Court Animal Hospital in 1991.  "I enjoy working with a family to help their four-legged (or two-legged for birds!) friend become a loved member of the family.  Maintaining good health and acceptable behavior is always my goal."

In 1995, Dr. Block decided Country Court should become a certified member of the American Animal Hospital Association, an organization which fosters and requires excellence in patient care.  The entire staff works hard to uphold AAHA's high standards.  Dr. Block is also a strong believer in keeping abreast of the latest advances in veterinary medicine through frequent Continuing Education meetings and seminars, as well as active membership in online veterinary organizations which allow ready consultations with experts in every field.

In her spare time, Dr. Block enjoys hiking with her dog, Annie, canoeing, and nature photography.  Dr. Block built the aviary in Country Court's lobby, home to a number of her Lady Gould's Finches.

Dr. Dornhoff always knew she wanted to be a veterinarian when she grew up -- she just never changed her mind about it!  Dr. Dornhoff grew up on the University of Illinois campus, where her father was a math professor and her mother was an accountant.  She attended the U of I for her undergraduate degrees (B.S.s in Honors Biology and Chemistry).  She volunteered at the vet school's Wildlife Ward, later renamed the Wildlife Medical Clinic, starting two years before entering vet school, and her interest in wildlife and exotic pets has continued ever since.  As a vet student she did externships at the California Regional Primate Research Center, Animal Medical Center in New York, Midwest Bird & Exotic Animal Hospital, and The Minnesota Zoo.

After graduating vet school in 1998, she worked in private practice in Pennsylvania before returning to her home state to join Country Court Animal Hospital in October 1999.  Dr. Dornhoff enjoys working with a wide variety of animals, from dogs and cats, to hamsters and ferrets, to parakeets, parrots, turtles, and lizards.  She once assisted with a Caesarian on a hamster, and has performed surgery on a tarantula.  She is especially interested in animal behavior and in prevention and management of chronic and surgical pain.  Dr. Dornhoff loves attending continuing education conferences and lectures, and is working towards becoming board-certified by the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners.

Janet enjoys long walks (position of dog to take them with her is sadly open but sure to be filled soon).  She walked in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer in 2008, 2011, and 2014; the Breast Cancer Three-Day in 2009; and Making Strides Against Breast Cancer in 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013.  She also enjoys traveling and staying in hostels, geocaching, reading, NPR, science fiction, and listening to and singing folk, swing and comedy music.  She currently shares her home with feline trouble-maker Mary.
