Cook County would like us to send a reminder to pet owners to please vaccinate their cat for rabies. Here's what Cook County has told us:

Vaccination Reminder for Cat Owners

"Please remember that both Illinois Law 510 ILCS and Cook County Animal Ordinance require vaccination of all dogs, cats and ferrets over four months of age.

"Please stress to your cat owners that the great majority of the rabid bats diagnosed in Cook County have been inside people’s houses (27 in 2018 with one kitten needing to be euthanized).

"Their indoor cats need protection."
